Big Wish

Linda Prokop’s “Big Wish” is a humorous, 15-foot-tall sculpture located in Hafer Park. This sculpture depicts two people trying to pull apart a gigantic wishbone which creates an arch over the walking trails. This idea is based on a well-known tradition where two people snap apart a wishbone while making an individual wish. The person who breaks off the lager piece receives their wish granted or at least good fortune. If the bone cracks evenly in half, both will receive their wishes. This sculpture was purchased through multiple means, the first being the Edmond Visual Arts Commission (EVAC) with a private donor/public matching fund program called Art in Public Places. The next was through 1% Construction Improvement Project (CIP) funding from the Hafer trails and restroom through the Edmond Visual Arts Commission. Lastly, some of the funding was through voluntary contributions from utility customers through the utility billing department.
