“Dancing Timber Ridge Family” by Darroll Riddick is a touching steel sculpture that sits in a park in the Timber Ridge neighborhood. Riddick is an Oklahoman artist who was introduced to welding at a young age. After getting certified at trade school, he took classes at the University of Central Oklahoma where he learned that welding could also be used as an artistic medium. Once graduated he became a metal artisan to express his creativity through welding. “Dancing Timber Ridge Family” depicts a family holding hands and swinging in a circle. They are all joined together as a unit, and even the dog is taking part. The Timber Ridge HOA wanted it to represent the community as a whole and demonstrate what is great about their neighborhood. The statue was placed in 2006, and still stands tall today. Purchased through the Edmond Visual Arts Commission (EVAC) with a private donor/public matching fund program called Art in Public Places. The donor was Timber Ridge HOA.
