Edmond Scenes
by Glover Shipp (1927-2016)
Located at City Hall - Upstairs Lobby
22 East Main Street, Edmond, OK, USA
The pen and ink “Edmond Scenes” drawing was donated to the City of Edmond by artist Glover Shipp. This one-of-a-kind illustration portrays historic scenes and buildings from our community including the Old North clock tower and Sanders Camera Shop. In the center you can even see Edmond's very first sculpture, the replicated Statue of Liberty holding her torch up high. During his time as a missionary in Brazil, Shipp created pen and ink drawings inspired by their villages and later when he moved to Edmond, he continued making his incredibly detailed artworks. Glover Shipp is remembered as a man who 'broadened and sweetened our world' according to a Christian Chronicle article by Editor Bailey McBride.
