Fulfillment

“Fulfillment” — a mural by local artist Chris Cargill — beautifully weaves the history of the HOPE Center of Edmond into its design, hiding meaning in plain sight. The HOPE Center was organized in April 1984, after 15 churches came together to form an interdenominational council of churches called the Edmond Ministerial Alliance. Represented in the mural by the 15 small circles focusing toward the large center circle. Shortly after the Edmond Ministerial Alliance was formed, a grant was received from the Edmond Women’s Club. The Edmond Women's Club is represented by the two female figures to the right of the center circle. The women are tending to seedlings and nurturing a sapling. This is representative of the basic needs and support provided by the HOPE Center to community members in a time of need. Helping others builds a strong, productive community (the Forest). Purchased through the Edmond Visual Arts Commission (EVAC) with a private donor/public matching fund program called Art in Public Places in partnership with the Hope Center of Edmond.
