Happy History
by Chris Cargill
217 S Broadway, Edmond, OK 73034, USA
“Happy History,” by Chris Cargill, is a mural of Bob Ross painting a mural of Jim Thorpe and Will Rogers. This mural says Oklahoma! Displayed on the south side of the building that houses Doc’s Barber Shop, a long-standing, locally owned and operated business in Edmond. Chris is a local artist that has lived in Oklahoma most of his life. He says he is inspired by the history, landscape and urban design of the 46th state. “From the stories of the Native Americans to the “newspaper of the street”, my art is born to continue their dialogue.” Happy History was painted in November of 2022 and was purchased through the Edmond Visual Arts Commission (EVAC) with a private donor/public matching fund program called Art in Public Places in partnership with Doc’s Barber Shop.
