Historic Orvis Risner
by Dr Bob Palmer
Located at Orvis Risner Elementary School
2801 S Rankin, Edmond, OK, 73013, USA
The idea for the “Historic Ovis Risner'' murals was created when the PTA of this Edmond Public Elementary School wanted murals to decorate the halls for students. The murals depict various scenes including the humble beginnings of Orvis Risner, beautiful Oklahoma landscapes, and children playing and learning. One of the encouraging phrases on the walls reads “I am an Orvis Risner Eagle. It is my responsibility to be a good citizen. Today I accept the challenge to be a leader and learner” alongside a beautiful depiction of a flying eagle. This mural was purchased through the Edmond Visual Arts Commission (EVAC) with a private donor/public matching fund program called Art in Public Places. The donors were the Orvis Risner PTA.
