In the Dog Days of Summer, It’s Good to be a Cat

"In the Dog Days of Summer, It’s Good to be a Cat” by local artist Chris Cargill adds a playful touch to Edmond’s stretch of Route 66. Spanning an exterior wall, the mural features a lively lineup of colorful dogs and cats, each full of personality, anchored by a bold Route 66 emblem that celebrates its iconic location. Subtle details woven throughout the composition highlight Oklahoma pride, including the state bird, the scissortail flycatcher, the stately redbud tree, and the bright Indian blanket (Gaillardia) wildflower.

With crisp lines, bright colors, and a touch of humor, Cargill captures the charm of summer and the joy of our four-legged companions, turning an everyday roadside view into a memorable stop along the Mother Road.
