Jester

“Jester,” by Victor Issa, is one of our bronzes with a fantastic story. In 2007, the friends and family of the late Steve Gragg partnered with the Edmond Visual Arts Commission (EVAC) to purchase this piece. They wanted something that would commemorate Steve’s full and interesting life, and being quite the joker himself, “Jester” was the perfect way to represent him. Not only was he a jokester, but Steve was also a Shriner and a member of the Royal Order of Jesters. When this sculpture was finished, the friends and family of Steve Gragg were blown away by how much it captured his essence and coincidentally looked like him. “Jester,” just like Steve Gragg, has lived an interesting life. The statue was once struck by a car that ran off the roadway. If you look closely, you can see that the feet have shifted from their original position. Surprisingly enough, aside from a few minor scratches and dents, he’s in great condition. Unfortunately, the car was no match for “Jester” and was totaled in the crash. / Donation partners include Mo & Richard Anderson, W.E. & Joyce Ardrey, Kay Bickham, Ruth Boss, Rae Brown, Winnie Bushey, John & Vivian Dewar, C.
