“Joyful Empowerment” is life-size, bronze by Angela Mia De la Vega. This artist is known for her sculptures depicting the human spirit through their expressive faces and body movements. In a quote from Angela Mia De la Vega on the Pitzer's Fine Arts website, she says, “I am so grateful to my parents for their constant model of love for learning in our home. With my three children I try to follow their wonderful example and nurture a real passion for learning. This little girl on top of the world expresses the impact educators make in the lives of children. It speaks rejoicingly of the empowerment through education that we all want for our children."  This piece was purchased through the Edmond Visual Arts Commission (EVAC) with a private donor/public matching fund program called Art in Public Places in partnership with BancFirst.
