Mainstreet Edmond

“Mainstreet Edmond” by Dr. Bob Palmer, was painted in the year 2004 and serves as a reminder of the beauty of the spirit of Edmond. The main goal in several of Dr. Palmer’s art pieces is to paint both American and Oklahoma history. Although many of his murals follow this theme, they are all unique. Dr. Palmer feels that Edmond is a great provider for a fair amount of the antiquity of Oklahoma. He believes that the art around the city tells a majority of the story of our state, and said, “I think Edmond is great for a lot of reasons, and public art is one of them.” This mural is a favorite among car enthusiasts of all kinds. With the large Route 66 shield, it makes for the perfect backdrop for photo ops. It was purchased through the Edmond Visual Arts Commission (EVAC) with a private donor/public matching fund program called Art in Public Places. The donors were Bob and Kathy Thomas, Jan Boyington, and Larry Willingham.
