Song of Songs
by David Pearson
Located at south side of Campbell Street just west of Littler Ave
30 E Campbell, Edmond, OK 73034, USA
“Song of Songs,” by David Pearson, is a life-size sculpture of a woman holding a rope with seven birds perched and looking back at her. She was purchased through the Edmond Visual Arts Commission (EVAC) with a private donor/public matching fund program called Art in Public Places in partnership with Pete Reeser. This statue is dedicated to Betty Reeser, a devoted wife, wonderful mother to five children, and doting grandmother.
A David Pearson sculpture is a beautiful way to remember someone's life by. He calls the subjects of his statues “people of light” who are meant to represent spirits that guide and protect us on our spiritual quests. On his website he writes, “when someone comes along whose life work transcends division and reminds us in the most beautiful and collaborative way of our connectedness, it gives occasion for celebration and encouragement for hope.” “Song of Songs” is a celebration of Betty Reeser’s life, one that can be enjoyed by Edmond for years to come.
