“The Interval Between” by sculptor James Edward Kelsey is a striking stainless steel sculpture that explores the relationship between movement, balance, and space. A sweeping, curved form arcs gracefully around a highly polished sphere, creating a dynamic composition of solid and open space.

The sculpture’s reflective surfaces capture the changing sky, landscape, and surroundings, allowing the work to continually shift with its environment. The sphere appears suspended within the sweeping curve, creating a sense of tension and balance between the two forms. The open space at the center invites viewers to look through, around, and into the sculpture, emphasizing the importance of the “interval between”—the space that connects opposing forms while also giving each its presence.
