“Tropical Oasis,” by Brooke Rowlands (now Hutchens), is a colorful mural that is displayed on the northern outside wall of Edmond’s Sunnyside Diner. The mastermind behind this piece, Brooke Rowlands, is a New Jersey native who has resided in Oklahoma for over a decade. This self-taught artist has several nationally featured works and has even gotten recognition on television. She uses stunning detail to create her vivid works, often times including florals. Brooke is inspired by the events and emotions of each day when working on her art, leaving us with a unique work of art that is unmatched anywhere else. “Tropical Oasis” was painted in August 2019 and was purchased through the Edmond Visual Arts Commission (EVAC) with a private donor/public matching fund program called Art in Public Places in partnership with Sunnyside Diner.
