Welcome to Edmond Mural
by Dusty Gilpin
Located at south wall of building
23 S Broadway, Edmond, OK 73034, USA
Dusty Gilpin’s “Welcome to Edmond Mural” is the perfect piece to greet those driving north into downtown. Inside of the letters that make up the word “Edmond” are iconic Edmond images such as the mascots of our high schools, a train, and a route 66 sign. The artist, Dusty Gilpin, is a third-generation artist from Oklahoma. Specifically, he is a self-taught printer whose design style is influenced by typography, the outdoors, cartoons, and graffiti. His work often features photorealistic elements and vibrant moving patterns. Notable events include The Rollin’ Deep, which he started 10 years ago, where he developed long-term partnerships within the local art scene. This piece is now located outside of the Edmond Fine Arts Institute and was purchased through the Edmond Visual Arts Commission (EVAC) with a private donor/public matching fund program called Art in Public Places in partnership with Switchgrass, McKinnis Law Firm, The Small Group, Lap 7 Development, and AC Owen Construction.
