“You Belong Here” is a stunning mural that portrays a variety of colorful flowers and insects. It was painted by Edmond artist, Kayla Jones, who is self-taught and specializes in acrylic paint. She has studied art for most of her life and has over 10 years of experience working with murals, chalkboard signs, and designing custom art for the public. She is also a Licensed Professional Counselor and works with the HALO Project, a non-profit organization working to rebuild attachment bonds and rewrite the story around self-worth. She is enthusiastic to continue to share a message of feeling seen, heard, and valued around the state of Oklahoma, and her inspiring murals do an excellent job at this. No matter who you are, you belong here in Edmond, here in Oklahoma, and here in this world. This mural was purchased through the Edmond Visual Arts Commission (EVAC) with a private donor/public matching fund program called Art in Public Places in partnership with The Body Barre.
